What it is, simply
VASER® liposuction uses ultrasound energy to liquefy fat cells before removal, allowing for gentler, more precise extraction with less trauma to surrounding tissue. It is particularly well suited to targeted contouring of the abdomen, waist, or thighs, with the added benefit of skin tightening.
What we use, and why
An ultrasound probe is introduced through small incisions to selectively liquefy fat, which is then removed through gentle aspiration using micro-cannulas. This approach better preserves blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue than traditional liposuction.
Ultrasound energy also stimulates skin retraction, a notable advantage after significant weight loss or for patients whose skin has lost elasticity.
Is this right for you?
Who it's for
This surgery is suited to men at a stable weight with stubborn localized fat deposits, including after significant weight loss, who wish to refine the waist, abdomen, thighs, or knees.
Contraindications
Pregnancy, uncontrolled bleeding or clotting disorders, obesity, certain cardiovascular conditions, or active smoking not paused before surgery.
What this procedure cannot do
This surgery is not a substitute for significant weight loss and does not correct major skin laxity, which may require a skin-excision procedure.
Realistic expectations
A slimmer, more defined silhouette, with firmer skin thanks to the retraction effect. Results are long-lasting if weight remains stable.
Preventive care
This procedure is corrective: it targets existing fat deposits rather than preventing their development.
Where this procedure takes place
Accredited operating facility
This surgery takes place in an accredited operating facility, with a complete medical team including an anesthesiologist and qualified nursing staff. Sterilization and safety standards match those of a hospital setting.
What happens, step by step
Before
A consultation assesses the areas to be treated and your general health. Stopping smoking and certain medications is required before surgery.
During
Under general anesthesia, small incisions allow the ultrasound probe to liquefy targeted fat, which is then removed through gentle aspiration with micro-cannulas. The procedure takes 2 to 3 hours.
After
A period of observation follows surgery. A compression garment is fitted before you leave, along with clear instructions for the first few days.
What to expect, and when
First few days
Mild discomfort and bruising are possible, generally lighter than with traditional liposuction.
First few weeks
Return to work after 7 to 10 days; resume sports after 6 to 8 weeks.
Lasting results
The silhouette continues to refine over several months. Results are long-lasting if weight remains stable.
Recovery is part of the care
Restrictions
The compression garment should be worn for about 6 weeks. Strenuous physical effort should be avoided during this period.
Recommended local care
Keep incisions clean and dry, and wear the compression garment as prescribed to support skin retraction.
Warning signs
Fever, worsening pain, or spreading redness should be reported to the medical team promptly.
